Molokai, Hawaii

Molokai is known as Hawaii's "Friendly Isle" and island considered by many to be the most Hawaiian island. The smallest of the main Hawaiian archipelago, Molokai is 38 miles long and only 30 miles wide. Its western side is arid while its eastern side is more verdant. Molokai's Northern side is famous for having the world's highest sea cliffs which rise out of the ocean some 3000 feet.

Forget nightlife, glitz and glamour. You won't find it on Molokai. What you'll find is a relaxing and laid back Hawaiian vacation. Molokai largest town only has a few tourist shops, a health food store or two, and a full service grocery store called the "Friendly Market." You'll also find a bakery and a wine and cheese shop. Molokai car rentals are available at the airport.

Molokai vacation rentals include beach homes, cottages, and a few condo resorts such as Wavecrest Resort on Molokai's east end. These accommodations are available by owners at affordable rates.

A must see on Molokai is the 2774-acre Kamakou Forest Preserve; home to 5 species of endangered birds and over 200 Hawaiin plants that grow only in this preserve.
