Summary: Heavy on facts, light on opinion
Comment: A good guidebook provides recommendations to help a traveler get the most out of a vacation, and adds facts to assist the traveler to then do so. (A good traveler can then evaluate the facts and opinions, throught he prism of his or her own tastes, to determine the best use of their time and money.) This book provides virtually no opinions -- what restaurants are worth my money? what attractions are worth my time? where are the best values? -- The book almost feels like an annotated telephone book. The author is a "local", and it seems like she is afraid to offend anyone for fear of running into them at the grocery store. So she sticks to the facts -- and there are lots and lots and lots of them. But it would be very difficult to plan a good trip solely with this book. If it has any use, it would be as an additional factual companion to another guidebook.
