Comment: We've used the comparable Fodor's guides before and found them immensely helpful. In comparison, the Frommer's is dry, wordy, and not that helpful. Maps are small and difficult to read, and reviews are lengthy yet not particularly helpful. This book would probably be much better as a pre-visit read to get a sense of Charleston than a pocket guide for your trip.

Summary: Guide to Charleston
Comment: I used one of Frommer's guides to Savannah and had a fabulous trip there. The same maps and reviews of hotels, restaurants, and sights to see are included in this guide. It also includes a bit of history and some travel tips. Great guides to make first time visits fun. I may buy one of local cities to see what might be interesting to see. Highly advised.

Comment: I just returned from Charleston and used this book. It was a joy to use. Best little travel guide I've seen. It covers the major information for planning a trip and then it becomes a highly portable reference book while there. Highly recommend this book and "The Best Little Map Of Charleston". You need little else
